03/06/2011 at Jahra East Outfall

I twitched Red Knot with Brian Foster, Mike Newey and Christine Canzanella today. The bird was found by Rashed Al Hajji on previous day. There is only one earlier record in Kuwait and it is from 26 July, 1962 by V.A.D. Sales. So one can just imagine how exciting this was for present birding community. As it sometimes happens, this wasn’t the only new bird for us today. We already left Jahra East Outfall when I received a phone call from Rashed stating that he had found Arctic Tern which is rarity in Kuwait. After a quick U-turn we returned the scene. We were lucky because the bird was still there.
