08/04/2011 the second record for Kuwait a Mongolian Finch at SAANR
This morning Khaled al-Ghanem was lucky enough to find the second record for Kuwait a Mongolian Finch. It was first recoded by himself at the same place on 05/03/2009.
It was found at a small drinking pool at Sabah Al-Ahmad Natural Reserve (SAANR).
After hearing the news I was first to arrive at the small drinking pool but had to wait for four hours and a half to have the bird appear for drinking from the same pool.
My photograph is below showing probably the same bird.
There were a number of migrant species seen at the pool these include a Steppe Grey Shrike 1, Eastern Black-eared Wheatear 1, Pied Wheatear 1, Trumpeter Finch 2, Black-headed Wagtail 1, Sykes’s Wagtail 2, Grey Headed Wagtail 1, Lesser Whitethroat 1, Willow Warblers 4, Ortolan Bunting 8, Red-throated Pipit 3.
