10/09/2020 Bay-backed Shrike first for Kuwait and Western Palearctic if accepted by KORC
This morning I had a call from Rashed Al-Hajji telling me he found a Bay-backed Shrike!!!!
The bird has a distribution that include all Indian subcontinent, extends north through Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iran.
It also extends from south Pakistan to south east Iran penetrating slightly into north UAE and Oman as a rare passage migrant (source: Birdsoftheworld.org).
In Oman it is a rare passage migrant, confirmed breeding in Ar Rowdah (Musandam Governorate) on 22/04/2004 (Oman Bird List, edition 7 ©2013).
In United Arab Emirates, it is a rare passage migrant and winter visitor. It has successfully bred in Wadi Masafi in June 2010.
This year, it was first recorded in Bahrain on 18/04/2020 (http://www.hawar-islands.com/blog/). It has not been recorded in Qatar according to their official list (https://qatarbirds.org/).
