On the evening of 8th Jan 2023, I received a photo on WhatsApp of a Long-tailed Duck photographed the same at Jahra Pools Reserve. The next day early in the morning, I was there and was happy to meet Jasem AlMotar, who had found the bird the previous day. After chatting for minutes, I was able to relocate the bird.
The bird appeared to be a female in winter plumage. The first record was in November 2012, and I missed it as I was out if the country. I was very happy to have a chance to see it this year, after 12 years.
